A Site-Specific Approach...

We understand the challenges associated with being fully operational during the winters worst weather. Your custom tailored winter services solution may include any combination of the following services to best suit your particular site and operational requirements. We would be more than happy to discuss your particular needs in detail and provide you with a no-obligation proposal for snow and ice management services. References from existing satisfied clients, as well as proof of Liabilty Insurance and WSIB coverage are also available at your request.

Snow Plowing

Mercuri Landscape Contractors owns and operates numerous late model 4x4 plow trucks, skid steers with plows, large agricultural tractors with multi function plows, backhoe loaders with push boxes and front end loaders with push boxes to quickly and efficiently clear accumulated snow from parking areas, driveways and roadways, and shipping areas.

Walkway Clearing and De-Icing

Our sidewalk crews efficiently clear snow from walkways, stairways, emergency exits, between parking stops and curbs, inside and around shopping cart corrals, and also address snow sitting on canopies in front of doorways on their visit to your site. Efficient walkway clearing is accomplished with shovels, walk behind snowblowers, atv's with plows, skid steers with plows, or mini tractors with hydraulic plows. We provide and re-plenish (as required) weatherproof on-site storage boxes with whichever de-icing material we assess is most appropriate for your needs.

Anti-Icing and De-Icing Services

Mercuri Landscape Contractors owns and operates a sizeable fleet of single axle dedicated salt trucks as well as numerous smaller salt  trucks to quickly and efficiently address icy conditions on your property. De-Icing is generally perfomed after snow plowing events, during freezing rain events or smaller accumulations to restore safe site conditions. Anti-Icing is performed prior to eventful weather to help prevent the formation of ice underneath any accumulated snow. We use bulk rock salt as well as treated rock salt (Clearlane) when temperature conditions drop.

On Site Snow Pile Relocation or Off Site Snow Pile Removal

Accumulated piles may have to be pushed back onto green-spaces, relocated, or completly removed off site depending on site volumes. This can be accomplished with snowblowers, loaders or truck and loader combination. When were not plowing or salting, our operators and truck drivers are kept busy with on or off site snow plie relocation. Snow melting services are also available when snow dump is not within close proximity of the property.

Snow Fence Installation

Snow drifts are common on properties abutting open fields, undeveloped land, or large neighbouring parking lots. We supply and install temporary snow fences to help prevent drifting snow from obstructing vehicle traffic, especially along long driveways across open areas. By installing a temporary snow fence we are capable of controlling the placement of the snow drift.

Snow Melting Services

Depending on the site location and proximity to the off site snow dump it may make financial sense to mobilize a snow melting unit to melt stock piles of snow on site with no need for trucking or disposal fees. This Trecan snow melter can melt up to 500 cubic yards of snow an hour (the equivalent capacity of approximately 20 triaxle dump trucks). Scheduled Site Patrols

During uneventful weather breaks, your site is monitored at specific times throughout the day, evening, and  early morning hours by one of our team members to quickly address any potentially hazardous situations like frozen run-off from piled snow, frozen puddles, slippery surfaces caused by thawing roof drains, and/or snow blowing off of rooftops etc. Our snow patrol monitors and documents the weather and site conditions in our service area and also makes the first call to bring in the troops should a freak storm come through unexpectadly in the middle of the day or night.

Caution Signage Installation

Aside from a properly executed snow and ice management plan, and keeping meticulous records of the property's condition and services performed, there are may contributing factors beyond the control of the property manager, owner or contractor which may result in a slip and fall claim. The onus is on the owner of the property to warn the public frequenting the property of potentially unsafe, adverse or slippery conditions on the property they are entering. This rugged and highly visible sign should be strategically and prominently displayed at property entrance points to be viewed by the general public as they enter your property. Considered by many to be the 'wet floor' sign for the outdoors, this simple sign may be a contributing reason your insurance company doesn't pay another frivolous slip and fall claim.
